Higher codimension Iwasawa theory

Abstract: Classical Iwasawa theory has to do with the characteristic ideals of modules for Iwasawa algebras. These modules typically arise from the action of one Galois group on another. The characteristic ideals encode the lengths of the localizations of such modules at codimension one primes of the Iwasawa algebra. In this talk I will describe a result concerning lengths of localizations at codimension two primes. The result is that in the case Iwasawa theory over CM fields, the lengths of codimension two localizations can be described via pairs of p-adic L-functions. This is joint work with F. Bleher, R.
