Higher codimension Iwasawa theory
Abstract:
Classical Iwasawa theory has to do
with the characteristic ideals of modules for
Iwasawa algebras. These modules typically arise
from the action of one Galois group on another.
The characteristic ideals encode the lengths of
the localizations of such modules at codimension
one primes of the Iwasawa algebra. In this
talk I will describe a result concerning
lengths of localizations at codimension two primes.
The result is that in the case Iwasawa theory over CM
fields, the lengths of codimension two localizations can be
described via pairs of p-adic L-functions. This is joint work with
F. Bleher, R. Greenberg, M. Kakde, R. Sharifi and
M. J. Taylor.
